Freezing problems
Freezing problems
Solution
I sometimes experience freezing on some of the channels
.
To avoid freezing/jittering:
a
. Download and install the latest version of the Hdi player from
http://www.filmon.tv/.
b
. Switch off Antivirus software.
c
. Close any running applications.
d
. Stop any upload/download in a browser and especially in the p2p software.
e
. Open windows Task Manager, this can be done by right clicking on the your task bar and then selecting Task Manager, select the performance tab and check your CPU usage, if the percentage bar is very high, select the applications tab and make sure all applications eating more than 10% of CPU (except Player.exe and System Idle Process) are closed.
In addition to the above you can try increasing you buffer size by clicking
View -> Preferences ->
in the dialog window drag buffer size to large or extra
then click
OK.
Please note that you need to re-start application for these settings to take effect.
Why are some channels not loading immediately ?
When you first tune in to a channel, sometimes it can take a few seconds to allocate sufficient bandwidth to serve your stream. If the low quality persists after the first few seconds of watching you might be experiencing one of the following problems:
1
. Your Internet connection may not be fast enough (FilmOn requires a broadband Internet connection with 900 Kbps or more of bandwidth), your computer may not satisfy the minimum system requirements, or your Internet service provider may not be providing you with enough bandwidth.
2
. Too little CPU. Decompressing and rendering the video takes a moderate amount of CPU power and some video processing power. Consider that when your machine does not render such video properly, it may very well be on account of a slow CPU or slow video card.
3
. Wifi, has transmission issues like a radio. If the connection isn't great, then the viewing is bad. There is nothing we can do about that, but the viewer can reposition or try to get a higher quality Wifi to get a better wireless connection. Of course, the broadband connection behind your Wifi could also be overbooked by your provider (see below).
4
. Overbooking. Users with higher speed connections are very happy with FilmOn's quality. However, not all providers are equal. Public networks and some network providers may be congested sometimes. If your problems persist, notify your provider.
If none of the above problems apply to you see "Trace your internet connection" article for more information and help:
